"We are fully committed to making the Trump peace plan successful and implementing it on the ground… We have completed the first phase, and now we must focus on the second phase. Of course, the operation of the Rafah crossing is vital — it is very important — and we need greater accessibility for humanitarian and medical aid into Gaza," Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty told DW.
In the interview, Abdelatty was also asked whether Egypt was pressuring Israel to grant Hamas fighters, allegedly holed up in tunnels in Israeli-controlled territories, safe passage out of Gaza, as the Palestinian militant group has been demanding.
