In rural northern Ghana, many communities still live without electricity — but two pioneering “Solar Grandmothers” are helping to change that. After training in India through a UN program, Salamatu Abukari and Memunatu Abudu became the first solar technicians in their village. One thing is clear: With more than 150 panels now in use in the region, the Solar Grandmothers' skills are helping reduce energy poverty, providing clean and cheap electricity.
