How a 'bee run' is creating a buzz in Uganda

The Kampala Bee Run raises awareness about the importance of pollinators — like bees — for biodiversity, and encourages people to protect them. Plus, it's fun!

In Uganda's capital, Kampala, volunteers have staged a run to highlight the importance of pollinators, likes bees and butterflies, but also other insects, in urban spaces. The city — like many across the world — has seen a drop in insect numbers in recent years. BeVisioneer fellow Hannington Sserwanga is one of the environmentalists behind the 5K race. The event is part of a bigger environment initiative to take measures on the ground to improve biodiversity in the capital and get the city buzzing with enthusiasm for these useful creatures. After all where would we be without them?
