Montenegro has its sights set on eventually joining the European Union. This former Yugoslav republic started accession talks with Brussels last year. The EU has warned that the country needs to do more to tackle corruption and organized crime. But a recent wave of brutal attacks on independent media in the country is also cause for concern.
