Is peace in Ukraine finally top of Trump's agenda?

October 16, 2025

Fresh off the Gaza ceasefire deal, US President Donald Trump has openly mused about supplying Ukraine with long-range missiles, shifting his stance toward Russia's Vladimir Putin from diplomacy to pressure.

After unsuccessful negotiations with Russia in Alaska earlier this year, Donald Trump's push for peace in Ukraine is shifting away from diplomacy and toward military pressure.

He is now openly contemplating the deployment of Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine.

The US president has recently ignored India's offer to mediate between the parties and has further escalated trade tensions with Delhi and China.

On Friday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is expected to join Trump for talks at the White House, while a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Budapest is reportedly being planned.

Meanwhile, Russia's war in Ukraine continues with heavy casualties and intensified drone and missile strikes.
