Lewis Sanders is an investigative journalist and documentary filmmaker at DW reporting on human trafficking, organized crime and extremism across Asia, the Middle East and Europe.
His investigative work combines traditional journalism with innovative methods for gathering information and developing sources, including digital ethnography and open-source research. Additionally, he supports DW’s linear service by covering breaking news in Germany.
His latest documentary, Scam Factory: Behind Asia's Cyber Slavery, exposes the vast criminal network behind scam factories in Myanmar's borderlands, where thousands of people are held against their will and forced into criminality. It is a story where victims are perpetrators and reality is far from what it seems.
