January 23, 2026

ICE raids and detentions have fueled fear across Minnesota — and a rising grassroots pushback. Businesses, activists and unions are urging residents to stay home and protest, insisting that ICE leave the state.

In Minnesota's Twin Cities of Minneapolis and Saint Paul, the forceful actions of federal authorities have pushed the immigration agency ICE into the center of daily life. The fatal shooting of Renee Nicole Good by an ICE officer has further heightened tensions.

Families are staying indoors out of fear, while volunteers track ICE movements and legal advocates try to locate detainees held across the country.

Despite freezing temperatures, protests continue to grow as residents and activists organize grassroots resistance — while federal authorities show no sign of easing their approach.
