Palestinian inhabitants of Silwan in occupied east Jerusalem have fought eviction orders in Israeli courts for years. Residents say the evictions and demolitions are a tactic to force them out of the neighborhood.

In Silwan, a Palestinian neighborhood in Israeli‑occupied east Jerusalem, families are losing their homes through court‑ordered evictions.

After Yaqub al‑Rajabi and his family were forced out of their house in Batn al-Hawa, Israeli settlers moved in. Residents say Israeli law and municipal policies favor settler claims, while courts, including the Supreme Court, uphold evictions.

Demolitions have also affected nearby areas, clearing land for a settler‑run tourism park. The UN says over 200 Palestinian households are facing eviction cases.
