Police in Los Angeles said on Sunday they had arrested a female suspect after she fired multiple gunshots into the home of superstar singer Rihanna.

Authorities told local news outlets that a 35-year-old woman was taken into custody on suspicion of attempted murder and a weapon was recovered. An AR-15-style assault rifle was reportedly used in the shooting.

No injuries were reported. Officers responded to reports of gunfire around 1:15 pm (2000 GMT) on Sunday in the Beverly Hills area.

Media reports showed holes in the front gate of the mansion. Officers said shots were fired towards the house in the middle of day by a suspect driving a white Tesla from across the street.

Suspect held on $10 million bail

An audio recording obtained by KABC-TV had a police dispatcher telling responding officers, "Shooting just occurred. Ten gunshots fired from the vehicle."

It was not immediately clear whether Rihanna was at home at the time of the incident, which the singer shares with rapper A$AP Rocky and their three children.

The suspect was booked on suspicion of attempted murder and is being held on a bail of $10 million (€8.81 million). She was arrested after fleeing the scene.

Police said they were investigating a motive and whether the suspect had any connection to the singer.
