Russia strikes Kyiv ahead of NATO summit

Russia launched another large-scale overnight attack on Kyiv, firing missiles and drones at the Ukrainian capital.

Residents described scenes of panic as air raid sirens sent people scrambling for shelter, while some were trapped in damaged buildings.

Ukraine's air force said it was unable to intercept any of the ballistic missiles used in the strike, highlighting serious gaps in the country's air defenses.

Ahead of a NATO summit, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy urged allies to provide more Patriot missile defense systems and interceptor missiles to better protect civilians from future attacks.
