What is the worst crime in human history? Slavery, that's what Ghana says.
This month, Ghana will submit a resolution to the United Nations General Assembly declaring the transatlantic slave trade "the gravest crime in the history of humankind."

And this isn't just symbolic. It's part of a much bigger push for reparations.
Officials say the goal is to finally recognize the scale, the duration, and the lasting consequences of this trade.

Because this wasn't something that simply happened and ended. Its effects are still shaping economies, societies, and lives today.

We're talking about over 12 million Africans forcibly taken from their homes. Families broken apart. Entire cultures disrupted. Generations impacted in ways that remain visible right now.

Ghana isn't acting alone. Several African and Caribbean nations are already backing this move.
