US-Venezuela tensions rise further amid military buildup

The US has deployed its largest warship, the Gerald Ford, off Latin America's coast to target drug cartels it links to Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro. Maduro accuses Washington of trying to oust him.

Venezuela is mobilizing its army and civilian militia for nationwide drills, citing "imperial threats" from the US after months of American airstrikes on suspected drug boats near its waters. Tensions rose as the USS Gerald Ford, the world's largest aircraft carrier, arrived in the Caribbean. President Nicolas Maduro accuses Washington of "fabricating a war," while France warns of a potential conflict as both sides dig in.
