Strasbourg hosts France's biggest Christmas market. The medieval setting with its timber-framed buildings and cathedral draws crowds of visitors every year.

As in many European cities, Strasbourg, France also has more than just one Christmas market. The best place for visitors to begin their tour is the Christkindelsmärik, the oldest Christmas market in France. The Christkindelsmärik first began in 1570, making it just under 500 years old. It’s located at Place Broglie in the heart of the city and other markets are grouped around it. Although Christmas markets have a particularly long tradition in central Europe, festive markets celebrating Christmas can be found all over the world.
